Water Skiing 2002

Home

The Troop water ski trip is scheduled for August 2 through 4 at Camp Rotary on Lake Hartwell (we will be in campsites 12, 13, 14 & 15). This has been a well attended activity in the past and a really enjoyable weekend. In conjuction with this trip, we will be doing the water ski merit badge. July 30 will be the organization meeting where we will plan the weekend, food, travel arrangements etc. If you want to go on the ski trip, you will need to be at the July 30 meeting. No prior water skiing experience is necessary, but you do have to pass the BSA swimming requirement.

Currently we have two boats (and maybe a third). The cost of this trip is $18.00.

We will meet at the church at 4:00pm Friday afternoon and depart soon thereafter. Friday evening we set up camp and get organized. Bring a sack lunch for Friday evening.

Saturday is a full day of skiing. Sunday we will have a church service and ski again that morning, eat lunch at camp Rotary then head back for a 2-3:00pm arrival. We will need at least two adults (or one adult and an Eagle Scout) per boat and at least two to organize things back at the dock.

Frank B. might teach the motor boat merit badge. Let Frank know if you would like to do the motor boat merit badge.

The Boating Safety Handbook can be reviewed online at the Department of Natural Resources website. Select "Law Enforcement" then select "Boating Safety Handbook".

Another source of boating regulations is the West Point Lake Coalition Boating Laws web site.

Do not forget to bring sunscreen and a water bottle!
