The Troop rafting trip will be held the weekend of May 3-5. We will leave Friendship Presbyterian Church at 4:30pm Friday and and will return Sunday morning (expected arrival 12n-1pm). Bring a sack supper for Friday evening. We will travel as a group to Appletree Way campsite about 5 miles from the Nantahala.

Sat meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be prepared at the campsite. The Ocoee group will pre-prepare lunch and take it with them.

Sun meal: Breakfast will be prepared at the campsite, then we will head back home after breaking camp.

We have reservations to raft on two separate rivers.

The Nantahala River (any age can participate, must weigh at least 60 pounds )

We have reservations for up to 15 people. Rafting time is 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 4. We need to be there by 8:30 a.m. This is a guide assisted trip on Class II-III rapids. The entire trip is 3.5 hours, with 2.5 hours on the river. This is the least challenging of the two rafting trips. It is a guided trip, with one guide for up to three boats. Total cost for the trip (including food)is $45 per person.

The Ocoee River (must be 13 or older)

We have reservations for up to 18 people. Rafting time is 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 4. We need to be there by 10:30 a.m. The trip takes 3.5 hours, with 1:45 on the river. Class III-IV Rapids. This is advertised as "non-stop action and pounding waves with little time to catch your breath due to the explosive rapids". Minimum Age is 13. (no weight limit given but would recommend at least 60 lbs.) Total cost for the trip (including food) is $51 per person.

Securely fitting shoes
Towel & change of clothing

Deadline for Registration: Tuesday 4/23/02 Troop Meeting. Parental release form required. All rafters must complete waivers.

Everyone going on the trip must be at the planning meeting the following Tuesday the 30th.
