Logo Contest:
That's right, you too can be a winner, but you must participate to have a chance! Here's the deal: we will be
ordering T-shirts for each crew member and need each of you to come up with a design for the camp shirt.
A design is needed for the front or back of the shirt identifying our trip to Philmont (for example, think of
a logo or design that incorporates parts of our Itinerary described above, our Expedition No P-611 or a feature
of Philmont that you are familiar with), and a design is needed for the front or back of the shirt identifying
Troop 149 Northeast Council. Start working on those designs and be the winner! Turn in your proposals to Paul
any time between now and the Troop meeting on March 25 when we will take a vote and select a winning design.

Cancellation Policy:
- Due to the cost of this event, once a deposit is made the participant is responsible for the entire payment of $1300.
- If a participant drops out and can find a replacement for his/her slot, then the replacement can pay the participant for the amount already paid. Replacements must be approved by the Philmont Planning Committee.
- A participant who drops out and cannot find a replacement is responsible for the entire payment unless a refund can be obtained without increasing the cost to other members of the contingent.
- If a participant who drops out and is unable to get a replacement desires to appeal this refund policy, it may be appealed to the Troop Committee. The Troop Committee may vote to allow a person to drop out of the group and receive a full or partial refund, but the Troop Committee will have to fund any refund out of Troop funds and not the Philmont Trek funds.
Notice- All participants must be able to pass Philmont's health and weight requirements as stated in the 2008 Philmont Health and Medical Record and meet the Troop's pretrek hike requirement. Refunds are not given to individuals who do not meet these requirements.
Please review the height/weight requirements with each participant. These
requirements will be strictly enforced by Philmont Scout Ranch for both
youth and adults.
Pretrek Participation requirements:

PHILMONT 2008 PARTICIPATION AGREEMENT
(Approved by Troop Committee 1/25/2007)
As an intended participant or parent of an intended participant in the Troop 149 Philmont trek scheduled for June 11-23, 2008 (with additional travel time before and after), I hereby agree as follows:
* I understand that the Philmont Trek is a High Adventure Activity that requires good physical health and fitness and that certain physical restrictions apply. All participants must be able to pass Philmont's health and weight restrictions as stated in the Philmont health form. Refunds are not given to those who do not meet these requirements.
* I understand and agree to meet all policies and requirements for participation, including CPR and First Aid Certification and participation in the expected percentage (80%) of the pre-trek hikes. If I am an adult participant, I understand that I must obtain Youth Protection Training in order to participate in the Philmont Trek.
* I understand that the Philmont trek is an inherently dangerous activity and have read and understand the Risk Advisory in the Philmont Health and Medical Record.
* I understand and agree that, due to the significant financial cost of this activity, each participant must support his/her share of this cost. Therefore, I understand and agree that by making the first payment and signing this agreement, I fully commit to paying the entire predetermined cost of $1300 per person by the monthly payment schedule. (Final cost might vary)
* I understand that if I cannot participate after signing the agreement, but can find a replacement that is acceptable to the Troop 149 Philmont Committee, I will not be held responsible for the payment. I also understand that if I cannot participate after signing the agreement, and feel that I have special circumstances, the payment policy can be appealed before the Troop Committee of Troop 149. I agree to comply with their decision.
