Billy O's. Court of Honor
Billy O., an Oconee County High School freshman, recently attained the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest rank possible in the Boy Scouts of America. He has also earned a total of 31 merit badges.
Billy's Eagle Scout Court of Honor was held at Friendship Presbyterian Church on February 24, 2002.
As Billy proudly marched in behind the color guard, behind him were all of the people that were Eagle scouts, including relatives, friends, fellow scouts, and family members.
All three of Billy's uncles (on his fathers side), and his father, have received the rank of Eagle Scout. Since this rarely ever happens, pictures were taken of them posing as if his grandmother was pinning something onto one of her sons and the others watched from beside. Three generations in Billy's family have participated in the adventures of scouting.
Several adult leaders participated in the ceremony including assistant scout master Jim B., troop committee vice-chairman Doug K., assistant scout master Mike F., and Scoutmaster Paul M. Assistant scout master, Lee J. made a flag box with an eagle on both sides of the box.
Immediately following the ceremony, guests were invited to stay for a reception. There were foods such as pigs in a blanket, Zaxby's chicken fingers, chocolate deserts, and tangy fruit punch. A display of Billy's activities was also mounted. About 90 people attended the Court of Honor.
