Deep Sea Fishing 2003

Home

The Troop Deep Sea Fishing trip is scheduled for Nov. 21-23. The trip is to Destin, Fla. and takes about 8 hours to get there. The departure time from Athens is up for discussion but we cannot leave any later than 3:30 pm on Friday.

We will be camping Friday and Saturday nights at Grayton Beach State Park. The docks are about a 45 minute drive from the campground and the boats leave at 8:00 am for an 8 hour trip. All fishing gear is supplied by the charter company. We will return on Sunday hopefully by 6:00 pm.

I have come up with what I think is the final total cost for the trip and the fee per person. The fee for the boats has gone up. This is not unexpected but the cost per person will be $150.00 rather than $130.00 which I had estimated before. The cost includes the fee for the boat, tips for the mates, campground fees, food for 4 meals, and partial gas reimbursement for drivers. We will not take the Scout Van so we'll avoid any costs for repairs.

If you are still interested in going on the trip let me know as soon as possible. I will not be at the meeting on Tuesday night, so e-mail me. We have a waiting list and if anyone decides not to go those on the waiting list can get a chance to go. I will collect the $150 on Tuesday, Nov. 11. The trip is for Nov. 21-23 and I need to start making final plans.

All adults must be trained in Youth Protection. If you are not contact Doug Kemp.

We'll talk more about the trip on Nov.11, but if you have any questions e-mail me at Turtles2@prodigy.net.

At this time I need to know ALL the names of who wants to go. I need to make reservations very soon so if you want to go on the trip let me know as soon as possible by e-mailing me. Even if you have told me at the meeting, e-mail me anyway. Also e-mail me if you have any other questions. We also will need drivers and someone to tow the trailer so let me if you can drive and how many you can take.

Ask another scout or parent who has been on this trip before -- it's a favorite and worth the money. More details as we get closer.
