Bahamas 2003!

Home

Our Bahamas trip was a great success this summer, marking our third venture into the Bermuda Triangle with T-149 (1998, 2001, and 2003). We chartered three boats (Bear Boat, Chinook Wind, and Jan Jan) out of Ft. Lauderdale, each with 5 Scouts, 3 adults, and a captain. Captains Greg and Gene were also on their third foray with us, and this time we "broke in" Captain Justin as well. They all did a great job!

Here are some photos to give the flavor of the trip:

William and John hang out aboard the Chinook Wind. (Note Kim edging away from the rest of us!)

Scoutmaster Paul taking a break from relaxing too much.

Sergeant-major fish at the Sepona dive site. Like being in an aquarium...

Take the photo quickly, I keep bobbing up to the surface!

John with the skeletal Sepona. Which story about it did Captain Gene make up this time?

Captain Greg at the wheel.

Two dinghies... oh, the second one? That's the one that the Jan Jan woke up to discover had gotten away! (Did I hear that Captain Gene tied that one off? Oops!) Recovered it several miles and several hours downwind... Good thing Captain Greg has good eyesight.

John and Amrey take what was rumored to be their only bath of the week...

Don, Andrew and Cap'n Greg show off a nice barracuda. Too bad the barracuda kept eating the edible fish we were trying to catch! And in this shot you can't even tell that Andrew had destroyed his ankle the night before we left for the trip!

Other highlights-- sailing, snorkeling, swimming, fishing, beachwalking on Beach Cay, making and eating cracked conch, spending time in Alice Town, Bimini, Jeremy captaining his boat, our captains showing their electrical engineering abilities with the Bear Boat, Jimmy Buffett music, catching fish, waiting for taxis in Ft. Lauderdale to take us to the immigrations checkpoint, and many more.
